Metaplanet Appoints Eric Trump to Newly Formed Strategic Advisory Board

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet Inc. has appointed Eric F. Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, to its newly established Strategic Advisory Board for his “business expertise and passion for Bitcoin.”

“This appointment marks a significant step in Metaplanet’s continued mission to drive Bitcoin adoption and strengthen its position as a global leader in the Bitcoin economy,” the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Metaplanet expects Eric Trump to bring his experience in “real estate, finance, and brand development” to assist the company’s drive in Bitcoin adoption, as it now ranks as the 10th biggest corporate holder of the world’s largest crypto, per Bitcoin Treasuries data.

“Eric Trump’s appointment reflects Metaplanet’s commitment to assembling top-tier advisory talent to advance its strategic objectives,”  the statement said.

Metaplanet, with its recent purchase of 150 BTC, now holds a total of 3,050 BTC, valued at $270.53 million, as it aims to become one of the world’s largest Bitcoin Treasury companies.

The company has already set an ambitious target to accumulate 10,000 BTC by 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026, with “Asia’s largest-ever equity capital raise for Bitcoin” already in the works.

Following the announcement, Metaplanet's share price surged 17.37% to close at $29.25 (¥4,730), Yahoo Finance data shows.

Eric has also become a recognized voice in crypto, mainly through his work with World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi platform founded by the Trump family.

WLFI has already netted him and his partners approximately $390 million in revenue.

Despite President Trump not being an active member of WLFI, his use of his name and likeness in promoting the project has proven highly lucrative. 

At the beginning of the month, Eric Trump lauded his father’s strategic crypto reserve announcement as a pivotal shift in financial dynamics that would finally give retail investors a win.’'
